El hundimiento del Titanic en tiempo real. La web Titanic: Honor and Glory ha recreado digitalmente el accidente naval más famoso de la historia utilizando la última tecnología en tres dimensiones.
Se trata de 2 horas y 41 minutos en los que se muestra toda la cadena de acontecimientos que llevó al desastre. Aunque estaban avisados de la presencia de icebergs, las suplicas de la naviera por salir en los periódicos con un tiempo récord llevaron al capitán a cometer una imprudencia que acabaría con la vida del 75% del pasaje y con la suya propia.
Un iceberg fue suficiente para acabar con el buque al que muchos apodaban «El insumergible» y es que al rajarse cuatro mamparos, el agua comenzó a inundar el barco y la presión provocó que se partiera en dos antes de sumergirse en las profundas aguas del océano atlántico la noche del 14 al 15 de abril de 1912.
El Titanic tenía capacidad para 2.787 pasajeros, incluyendo 860 miembros de la tripulación. Su hundimiento fue una tragedia, en parte por la escasez de botes salvavidas (aunque había más de los exigidos por ley) y un cúmulo de infortunios, como el hecho de que el barco más cercano no se enterase de las señales o que sus pasajeros no creyeran la noticia y optasen por refugiarse en su interior.
El estudio Vintage Digital Revival LLC ha confesado la verdadera razón que les ha llevado a crear esta simulación: «Estamos creando un videojuego fiel y respetuoso basado en la historia del Titanic y especialmente estamos buscando inversores después de dos campañas de microdonaciones».
El videojuego al que se refiere es ‘Titanic: Honor and Glory’, que fue anunciado en primavera del año pasado. El juego abrió una campaña de financiación colectiva en la plataforma IndieGoGo en busca de 250.000 dolares para hacer realidad el proyecto, pero desafortunadamente solo consiguieron 60.000 dolares.
